We're Supporting Mind
Everyone has their own reason for running.
When Runr launched in 2016, we recognised the importance of mental health which is why we are now a corporate partner with the mental health charity, Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales.
Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
Why are we supporting Mind?
Mind campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding, and provide support directly to those who need it most.
Mind has a network of over 140 local Minds across England and Wales which offer specialised services based on the needs of the communities they support.
Every year, one in four people will experience a mental health problem. But hundreds of thousands of them are still struggling.
Mind believes that no-one should have to face a mental health problem alone.
Their mission is simple.
Mind won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.
Since we launched the partnership in 2016, we’re pleased to have played a part in raising over £368,000 for Mind.
Our series of virtual runs, Miles For Mind, played a central role in bringing the running community together and you can read more on Miles For Mind: The Story So Far.
How can that money be used?
Below are just some of the examples of how the money raised for Mind can be used by the charity:
This funding could support 15 local Minds to access vital IT hardware!
This funding could let 88,793 people access safe, remotely-delivered peer support group services through community-based mental health organisations.
This funding could help answer 7,566 enquiries to our Infoline
This funding could help keep our Infoline running for 621 hours.
This funding could help support 2,344 emergency service workers needing info or advice.
Below is a quote from Emma Ishan, joint Head of Corporate Partnerships at Mind:
“We are really grateful to Runr for continuing their partnership with Mind and also for helping to raise awareness of the importance of looking after our mental health, perhaps now more than ever. The pandemic is having a huge impact on our mental health and wellbeing, especially for those of us with existing mental health problems, and many of us are struggling with isolation, stress, grief, financial worries and fears about the future.
“The money raised by Runr and their running community will help us to keep our vital services running, including the Mind Infoline and legal line, and ensure we are there for as many people who need us as possible.”
